Value-Based (Token) Licensing

Value-based licensing, also known as token licensing, lets users access a broad suite of Simcenter 3D capabilities flexibly and cost-effectively. Instead of purchasing traditional module licenses, “tokens” are checked out for features as needed, adapting to varied or changing simulation demands.

What is Value Based Licensing?

  1. Value Based Licensing (VBL) is an additional method for accessing Simcenter 3D features, using prepaid token packs.
    1. Operates through the FLEX license server (the same system used for individual module-based Simcenter 3D licenses).
      1. Users can combine token licenses and module licenses for maximum flexibility.
  2. Base Application Requirement:
    1. To use tokens, a “Base Application” must be licensed (module-based desktop license, perpetual or lease).
    2. Tokens apply only for add-on modules above the “Base Application.”
  3. Accepted Base Applications:
    1. SC12500: Simcenter Engineering Desktop
    2. SC12510: Simcenter Engineering Desktop Add-on
    3. SC13500: Simcenter Structures
    4. SC13510: Simcenter Structures Add-on

How Does Value Based Licensing Work?

  1. A base application (module-based license) is always required to start a session.
  2. Running additional Simcenter 3D applications:
    1. First, a module-based license is checked out if one is available.
    2. If not, the necessary number of tokens are checked out.
    3. If neither are available, a license error is returned.
  3. Token rules:
    1. Each application/module consumes a specific number of tokens.
    2. Tokens are released when the module is closed.
    3. The number of concurrent modules/features is limited by available tokens on your license server.
